
membership: join and renew
ACCUO offers three categories of membership. The membership year runs from July 1 to June 30.
Individual Membership
Individual (Voting) Membership is open to full or part-time ombuds practitioners working in Canadian post-secondary educational institutions.
Individual members may:

attend and vote at the ACCUO Annual General Meeting;

stand for election and serve on the Executive Committee;
-
participate on committees;
-
participate on the ACCUO listserv; and
-
attend ACCUO conferences and ACCUO sponsored events.
Institutional Membership
Institutional Membership is open to the offices that provide Ombudsperson services within Canadian post-secondary educational institutions.
This membership carries the same benefits and rights as Individual (Voting) members, but will be limited to one vote.
Associate Membership
Associate Membership is open to:
-
Individuals affiliated with organizations other than Canadian post-secondary educational institutions, or employees within educational institutions who do not meet the ACCUO definition of Ombudsperson (see Constitution); or
-
Individuals not currently practicing as ombuds (e.g., retired ombuds, students, researchers, or those aspiring to enter the profession).
Associate members are non-voting members who may:

attend the ACCUO Annual General Meeting (AGM);

participate in volunteer opportunities of the committees;

participate on the associate member listserv; and
-
attend ACCUO conferences / relevant ACCUO events.
Payment
Members are required to pay an annual fee. 2025/26 Membership Fees are as follows (in CDN dollars):
Individual Annual Fee: $100.00
Associate Annual Fee: $50.00
Institutional Annual Fee: $250.00 (3 or more members of an Ombuds Office)
